A little background on Christchurch:
Founded in the 7th Century, the town was originally known as Twynham but became known as Christchurch in 1094 with the construction of the Priory. The town has a long history with the military which can be seen in Christchurch Castle, thought to have been constructed in the 12th Century. Christchurch plays host to an annual music festival on the first weekend of July.
